Have you ever considered becoming a counsellor? Perhaps you’re interested in finding out more about the counselling profession.  Or perhaps you’re not looking for a change of career but are interested in developing your own self-awareness and an understanding of others, in your personal and/or working life.  Whatever the reasons, this could be the course for you.

This innovative and supportive 21-hour introductory course is ideal for those with no previous knowledge or experience of counselling.  It might also be of interest to counsellors of other modalities and could count towards your CPD.

This course is largely practical and experiential, with no academic assignments and is open to anyone who would like to:

  • Develop a basic knowledge of key psychodynamic ideas and theory.
  • Gain some understanding of counselling concepts, that could be applied to many roles including education, management, social care, parenting, voluntary and charitable sectors, and many more.
  • Develop self-awareness and the capacity to be reflective about self and others, using some key psychodynamic principles.
  • Learn about training pathways towards becoming a qualified psychodynamic counsellor. We could also help you think about what might come next.

For those wishing to go further, the course would serve as a useful preparation for further training, leading to our flagship “Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling” and a full clinical qualification and licence to practise as a psychodynamic counsellor.

Chelmsford Counselling Foundation (CCF) is proud of its BACP-accredited training courses.  All of our courses are delivered by highly qualified and experienced, practising counsellors, who will guide and support you from the outset. On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance.

CPD 21 hours, attendance certificate.

If you would like to talk to our Training Team about your interest in this or any other course, please contact our training co-ordinator, Kellie Willis at KellieW@chelmsfordcounselling.org.uk

We would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Places are limited, so please do not delay in contacting us to register your interest or find out more.  You are also welcome to apply directly through filling out a short application form.   This will be followed up with a brief, informal telephone call with one of the course tutors, to discuss your interest in the course and to answer any questions.

We are also considering running this course again, later in the year, in the evening for those unable to attend on weekdays.  If you would be interested in this and would like to register interest, please contact our training co-ordinator, Kellie Willis.  We will keep your details on file and get in touch again as soon as we have a confirmed date for the course.

NB. Completion of this course does not qualify you to practice as a counsellor.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Former clients of CCF wishing to train as counsellors cannot do so here until at least five years after their last counselling session with us.

Ideally, applicants should be aged 21 years and over.
