About Us

Chelmsford Counselling Foundation (CCF) was established in 1974 under the former name of Writtle Pastoral Foundation.  Now a charitable company based in central Chelmsford, CCF has a strong reputation for high standards of training and practice.

CCF aims to offer psychodynamic counselling to individuals and couples. Counselling is available at an affordable price and is open to anyone over the age of 18.  Clients either need to be able to attend sessions at CCF’s Chelmsford premises, or to attend sessions via telephone or Zoom from anywhere in the UK.

CCF is committed to the professional practice of counselling, seeking to promote personal growth towards psychological and emotional health.

We also deliver a long established and highly regarded training programme, with a development route from introductory and diploma-level Counselling Skills courses through to a BACP-accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling for those wishing to pursue a career as a psychodynamic counsellor.

CCF provided counsellors in surgeries in Mid Essex Primary Care Trust for 10 years, working with GPs to improve access to counselling within the NHS framework and now delivers services to the NHS – IAPT (Improved Access to Psychological Therapies) in the Mid Essex area.
